Enterra for Gastric Electrical Stimulation

Implant Procedure & Techniques

Implant Procedure

The Lead/Neurostimulator Connection

The surgical procedure for the Enterra® Gastric Neurostimulation System is performed under general anesthesia and takes 1 to 2 hours. Using laparotomy (abdominal incision) or laparoscopy (abdominal visualization via an endoscope), the stimulating electrode of each intramuscular lead is fixed to the muscle of the antrum (lower stomach).

The connector end of each lead is attached to the neurostimulator, which is then placed in a small pocket through an incision in the abdomen.

Implant Procedure Tools

This optional tool can help you in preparing an informed consent document for your patients if your IRB requires it.

Both laparotomy and laparoscopic lists are presented on a laminated list for use in the OR.

This brief provides important information for physicians who implant or monitor patients with the Enterra System.
